Launched in March 2024, the Government of Canada’s National Vaccine Catalogue (NVC) is a bilingual repository of all vaccines authorized for use in Canada, linking product specific information to standardized SNOMED CT terminology. It supports registry and EMR integration through a FHIR API and Excel outputs. Early findings show strong registry adoption but limited EMR uptake. Wider EMR adoption is essential to achieve interoperability, strengthen clinician point-of-care decision making, and enhance immunization data quality.

        Presented by:

        Dr. Etran Bouchouar

Dr. Etran Bouchouar is the lead for the National Vaccine Catalogue at the Public Health Agency of Canada.

        Jessica MacDougall

Jessica MacDougall is the Program Lead, Continuous Improvement at the Department of Health and Wellness Nova Scotia.

The topic will explore the future of healthcare in Canada through the lens of a dual-track model, where direct-to-consumer healthcare pathways complement rather than replace the public system. It contrasts Western healthcare models, which are largely provider-driven and reactive, with many Asian healthcare ecosystems that place greater emphasis on prevention, consumer access, and parallel care options.

The core challenge is that physician-centric systems face long wait times, delayed diagnosis, resource bottlenecks, and insurance models that no longer fully match modern health needs. Drawing on examples from China and Japan, the presentation shows how preventative healthcare can shift the system from late-stage treatment to continuous health management.

        Presented by:

        Sirena You, HealthByte Technology Inc.

Sirena You is a Vancouver-based serial entrepreneur, investor, and the founder of HealthByte Technology Inc., a platform advancing consumer-driven, preventative healthcare. She has founded and co-founded multiple companies across technology and innovation sectors, with ventures reaching billion-RMB scale and serving large global user bases.

Her career began in the ultra-high-net-worth market, including 10+ years of selling private jets,  where she developed a deep understanding of access, service models, and premium ecosystems. A pivotal turning point came during her time with Human Longevity Inc., a pioneer in genome-based precision healthcare, where she recognized that many of the most advanced health technologies remained accessible only to the wealthy.

This realization reshaped her mission. Today, Sirena is strong advocate for the democratization of healthcare in North America, focused on building and investing in direct-to-consumer (DTC) healthcare platforms that enable individuals to access preventative, data-driven health tools. Her work centers on empowering people to take control of their own health, while contributing to a more sustainable and accessible healthcare system.

Healthcare runs on urgency. A nurse on the floor can't wait three days for IT support. A service desk team shouldn't spend their day manually triaging tickets. And clinical care teams deserve technology that works as fast as they do.

These aren't new problems. But there are practical ways to solve them — and that's exactly what this session is about. Join this session to see AI built for the realities of Canadian healthcare.
We'll walk through three scenarios: a clinician who needs help but can't get to a computer — and how voice-based requests get captured, routed, and resolved without manual triage. A staff member who needs a quick answer without calling the service desk — and how AI handles it through tools they already use. And an IT team spending time on work that shouldn't need a human — and how automated workflows free them to focus on what actually requires their expertise.

Whether you're supporting patient care, managing service requests, or evaluating responsible AI adoption, this session demonstrates AI that works within your existing environment to reduce manual handoffs and keep care teams focused on patients.

A national suicide crisis helpline is being developed to provide 24/7, confidential support to individuals in distress across the country. This presentation explores the design of a resilient, privacy-protected, and equitable digital infrastructure underpinning the service. Through collaboration among technology partners, crisis centres, and policy leaders, the initiative demonstrates how cloud-based systems can strengthen reliability, regional responsiveness, and access to care for underserved and remote populations.

                Presented by:

Dan Harren, Director of Digital Acceleration & Initiatives, CAMH

Dan Harren is the Director of Digital Acceleration Initiatives at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, he leads a portfolio of regional and pan‑Canadian projects designed to modernize CAMH’s digital infrastructure, drive rapid technology adoption and embed data‑driven solutions across clinical and operational settings.

Dan has supported a number of large-scale IT projects including the migration of CAMH’s network and infrastructure to the cloud, migrating CAMH’s clinical EMR to the cloud, advanced integrated care initiatives to improve patients’ physical and mental health outcomes, and has supported the deployment of tools and technologies to embed Measurement Based Care CAMH. Dan supported the rollout of the technology stack required to deploy the 9‑8‑8 Suicide Crisis Hotline which is a national service serving Canadians in crisis via phone or text. Dan’s is also engaged in the work to build and deploy a pan-Canadian Integrated Youth Services (IYS) federated data platform which will serve Youth, Research, and Integrated Youth Service providers across Canada.
