The presentation will provide a comprehensive look at the healthcare provider shortage in Newfoundland and Labrador, with a particular emphasis on the gaps within Emergency and Primary Health Care services. It will delve into the downstream impacts of these shortages on the overall health system. A key strategy highlighted will be the use of virtual physicians to augment on-site clinical staff, ensuring continuous emergency care services while managing the growing number of unattached patients in the province. The virtual Primary Health Care (PHC) model will enable episodic care and facilitate follow-up pathways, with a review of both short-term and long-term plans aimed at building sustainable health services through the integration of virtual care technologies.
