The recent pan-Canadian health care agreement and alignment on common priorities includes the modernization of our health care systems with standardized health data and digital tools. In order to ensure that Canadian healthcare organizations can learn from global experiences, TELUS Health engaged PWC to identify best practices from other countries that have implemented creative and bold digital health policies, effective governance and cultural changes to ensure that digital health solutions are implemented to meet the needs of their citizens.
This report assesses the digital health critical success factors from high-performing and digitally enabled healthcare systems including the UK, Australia, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands, and identifies key learnings for Canada related to a number of solutions such as remote patient monitoring and their interoperability.
Attendees will gain insights of what worked and did not work, which will provide valuable lessons that can support the implementation of digital health policy and the digital health solutions within their healthcare ecosystems to improve patient outcomes, advance progress on the new pan-Canadian health care agreement and accelerate important priorities such as a more connected health system.

Kathryn and her team are focused on aligning TELUS’ capabilities to support provincial initiatives that transform citizen services, in such areas as Personal Health Records, Home Health Monitoring, interoperability and integration of solutions across the continuum of care.
Michael Dobner is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Consulting & Deals Group and the national leader of the Economics Practice. He has over 37 years of experience in economic analysis, business valuation and litigation support. Michael has gained substantial experience in every key sector in Canada across every province and territory. He has led over 1,000 engagements for the private and public sectors, which enables him to bring a holistic perspective to his clients.
Michael has served as a senior advisor in relation to high profile policy and economic reviews by Provincial and Territorial Governments as well as the Federal Government of Canada. For example, he advised the Canadian Chief negotiator on two key areas for the latest round of free trade negotiations with the US and Mexico. He was also instrumental in shaping the Federal Government policy response to the US tax reform.
Over the last decade, Michael has been acting as a trusted advisor to indigenous groups, assisting them in developing economic opportunities.
