Leaders from Provincial Health Services Authority, Providence Health Care and Vancouver Coastal Health describe their collaborative journey developing a sustainment operations model for their shared electronic health record. These three organizations have made exciting progress with the Clinical & Systems Transformation project, a joint initiative to establish common clinical and process standards and a common electronic health record. Considered one of the largest Oracle Health programs in North America in terms of scope (i.e. functionality), the system is currently in use at more than 45 sites and 300 clinics by 38,000 staff and medical staff.

Megan Stowe is the Chief, Regional Digital Solutions, Provincial Health Services Authority and Executive Director, Clinical Informatics/Virtual Health, Vancouver Coastal Health.  Megan is passionate about transformation in healthcare. Last year, Megan was awarded as a Woman Leader by Digital Health Canada. Her interests lie at the intersection of leadership, quality improvement, education and technology. Megan is a registered nurse and has her bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary. Her Masters of Science in Nursing Leadership in Healthcare is from King’s College, University of London (UK). Megan is also an adjunct professor at University of British Columbia and is an instructor in UBC’s Master’s of Health Administration Program.

Prab Gill, Chief Clinical Information Officer, Clinical Informatics, PHSA leads in strategic planning, program development, project and change management, process and quality improvement, EHR implementation, sustainment, and evaluation. As a registered nurse, Prab worked in clinical roles for eight years before moving into senior leadership positions within PHSA. Previously she served as Director, Quality, Patient Safety, Accreditation & Clinical Informatics at BC Mental Health Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS). She has also led various portfolios within the CST project including Clinical Informatics, Clinical Design Teams, Transformational Learning, and Policy and Data Standards. Prab’s nursing focus was in Clinical Education and Advanced Practice Nursing at The University of British Columbia and she is a Quality Academy Graduate from BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.

Grant McCullough, Executive Director, Professional Practice, Nursing & Clinical Informatics, PHC is a registered nurse with a Master’s in Business Administration who has been with Providence Health Care since 2001. Grant has held positions in Professional Practice and Operations. His most recent roles include the successful implementation of one of the largest Oracle Health projects in Canada and leading PHC’s COVID-19 Response and Preparedness in collaboration with the Senior Medical Director. Grant has extensive experience with standardization of best practice, managing organizational wide change and leading large clinical projects.
