Webinar Wednesday - Vancouver Coastal Health post-pandemic digital and virtual health transformation

This webinar will offer key highlights from Vancouver Coastal Health’s Virtual Health Team post-pandemic digital and virtual health transformation, with a focus on three solutions:

• The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) camera system
• Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) waiting room management system
• Community patient scheduling and reminder system

For each solution, the presenters will review the problem, the implementation process, the captured outcomes, and lessons learned.

Presented by:

Gregory Liew is a Virtual Health Leader at Vancouver Coastal Health. He has over 10 years of experience in the health care industry across Canada, Europe and South East Asia spanning the non-profit, public and private sectors. As a Registered Nurse by training, Gregory endeavours to utilize his knowledge and skillset to improve the health outcomes and user experiences of Canadians.

Heather Boersma is the Regional Director -Virtual Health  at Vancouver Coastal Health.  She is has a clinical background in physiotherapy and has held a number of leadership roles with in the Ministry of Health and the BC Health authorities. Most recently, her focus has been on adoption of technology within healthcare, in addition to her current role, previously she was the Project Director for a Meditech Expansion at a tertiary acute care site. Heather seeks to provide value in the health system by providing opportunities to improve efficiencies, patient experience and outcomes.

Joanas Wong is a Virtual Health Leader at Vancouver Coastal Health. In addition to over 10 years of nursing experience in the Emergency Department, she has also worked in roles of Clinical Nurse Educator and Nursing Practice Lead prior to completing her graduate studies and joining the Virtual Health Team. Joanas has been responsible to lead project planning, implementation and sustainment of multiple virtual health initiatives in VCH. Her passion lies in supporting quality improvement to revolutionize health care delivery for patients, families and staff, for better health outcomes in our communities.
