Webinar Wednesday - North York General Hospital's Digital Health Strategy: innovations and initiatives

Join us for a look at key highlights from North York General Hospital’s new Digital Health Strategy, including the inclusive approach to developing a novel strategy incorporating the needs of the local community. The discussion will cover challenges and engagement approaches for developing a strategy impacting a broad group of community stakeholders. Presenters will: share how community and patient partners were engaged in the process; feature key digital health initiatives within the strategy; and share specific outcomes achieved and lessons learned.

Presented by: 

Dr. Phil Shin is an intensivist at North York General Hospital.  He received his Bachelor of Arts & Sciences from McMaster University and his MD from the University of Toronto.  He finished a Residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a Critical Care Fellowship, from the UoT and received a Masters of Health Sciences in Bioethics at the University’s Joint Centre for Bioethics.  Dr. Shin has been on staff at North York General as an educator and staff intensivist since 2006, an Assistant Professor in the University of Toronto Department of Medicine since 2017, Chief of Medicine between 2012 and 2022. He has been the Medical Director of Critical Care since 2013 and the Chief Medical Information Officer since January 2022. Dr. Shin lives in north Toronto with his wife and three teenaged daughters. 

Duska Kennedy is the Chief Digital Officer at North York General Hospital (NYGH) in Toronto which is a leading community academic hospital in Canada offering acute care, ambulatory and long-term services. She is a national health system leader and is focused on spearheading new digital technology solutions that transform the way we work and provide a connected care experience to the communities she serves. She is deeply passionate about exploring innovative ways to transform the patient and provider experience. Duska provides strategic leadership for NYGH’s digital, information technology, clinical informatics, and biomedical engineering portfolios. Duska also plays a key leadership role in advancing digital solutions and optimizing health system innovation through NYGH’s partnership with the North York Toronto Health Partners (Ontario Health Team) and other health system providers. Duska holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts, Honors Business Administration from The Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.
