Next up on Let’s Talk Informatics - Lori McCraken and Mark Bennett from Nova Scotia Health’s Public Health team.

COVID-19 presented new challenges to Public Health that required shifts and adaptations to processes. Public Health saw a difference in work with the increased need for COVID-19 case investigations, contact tracing, and outbreak containment.

Learn how Public Health explored ways to be prepared, remain flexible in processes, and to find opportunities for change, including creating a data-driven simulation model to help inform the allocation, mobilization, and management of Public Health staff during COVID-19.

The model blends content expertise with data collected, allowing leadership to make evidence-informed decisions around staffing and COVID-19 case/contact management as well as motivate action, communicate justification of decisions, and test scenarios before enacting change.
