Health systems focused on integrating care are faced with a unique dilemma; how do you make effective patient flow decisions when a wealth of data is scattered across multiple hospitals & siloed software systems? The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) compiled data from various disparate systems into Oculys—a single operational visibility platform.
The WRHA has taken the necessary steps to improve communication and transparency between hospitals and programs across the health region.
For care teams, the enhanced transparency empowers decision-makers and care providers with real-time visibility that is available anytime and anywhere— including on mobile devices. Staff are able to use this real-time data to identify bottlenecks across multiple sites and programs throughout an entire region and develop effective solutions more efficiently.
For patients, Oculys means an improved experience by significantly expediting their journey through the healthcare system and managing expectations through accurate and predictive ED wait times.
Katherine Graham, has been Director of Care Coordination at The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, since March 2021. This is a new senior leadership position developed as part of the Health System Transformation and Organizational Realignment Model intended to create a dedicated team within the service delivery organization model to strengthen and ensure efficiency of all care transitions across all the sites and sectors within WRHA. Part of her responsibility is to participate and help inform the system changes that will come as part of the Clinical Preventative Service Plan that will aim to see equal access to care for all Manitobans closer to home.
