BC Chapter LInk-Up: The Future of Healthcare Technology

The pandemic has shaken up healthcare and given rise to technology changes and innovation. Over the past 18 months, we have had to quickly implement effective solutions that support our healthcare system - at a speed we’ve never had to before. Have we begun to let go of the perfect solution? We have been pushing boundaries out of necessity and our approach to systems and integration has adapted over the last year. Perhaps it is time to rethink some of the overall strategies, methodologies and the pace and speed of delivery. Join the discussion with your colleagues in BC. Questions explored will include:

    • What are the lessons learned from the accelerated pace of implementing new technology this last year?
    • Which of the so-called pandemic-related hacks might lead to changes in strategy?
    • What does the future hold: continued acceleration or a return to the way things were?
    • Why is this taking so long?
Moderated by: Norma Janssen, Interior Health Authority

Atlantic Chapter Virtual LinkUp: Implications to Open Clinical Notes

With a growing focus on patient engagement, healthcare continues to evolve practices and policies to involve patients. The US recently released federal rules mandating Open Notes: https://www.opennotes.org/onc-federal-rule/. How long will it be before Canada implements a similar program? Questions to be explored at the Atlantic Chapter LinkUp  will include:

    • Major CIS vendors will begin to implement this functionality. Do you think Canadian organizations will jump on board to use it?
    • How do we prepare as healthcare organizations for open clinical notes?
    • How do we prepare patients?
    • What are the challenges and implications in Canada?

Moderated by: Keltie Jamieson, Nova Scotia Health Authority
